Do I have to be an Administrator in order to install and use DataSmart® Notification?

Preferably Yes. DataSmart® Notification uses Microsoft's encryption interface, CryptoAPI, to secure sensitive data. CryptoAPI might not run properly if the user is not the administrator of the machine (applies only to Windows NT/2000/XP). A patch will be available shortly for users that are not administrators of their machine. Please be aware that the level of security offered by DataSmart® Notification is reduced if the patch is installed.

Does DataSmart® Notification expire?

No, DataSmart® Notification can be used indefinitely. A user should not, however, disclose the registration code to anybody by any means. If we find a registration code published on the Internet or used by somebody else, we will disable the user's AutoUpdate feature and he/she will not be able to get further updates to DataSmart® Notification. We may also pursue legal action against anybody using pirate copies of DataSmart® Notification or encouraging piracy.

Can I install DataSmart® Notification on more than one computer?

DataSmart® Notification can be installed on more than one computer provided that a license is obtained for each computer.

In the DataSmart® Notification folder (typically C:\Program Files\DataSmart), there is a file called "datasmart.mdb", which contains all the notification entries. We recommend getting regular backups of this file.

What should I do if I accidentally delete DataSmart® Notification from my computer?

DataSmart® Notification can be reistalled from the original CD provided. After installation, replace the "datasmart.mdb" file with the backup to get back the original notification entries.

I misplaced my original DataSmart® Notification CD? Can I have a replacement copy?

As long as DataSmart® Notification has been registered, a user may require replacement copies for a minimal charge of £45 per copy.

I understand AutoUpdate updates DataSmart® Notification from the Internet. Can I still get upgrades if my computer is not connected to the Internet?

Our registered users may request upgrades on CDs for a minimal charge of £15 per CD. Please register DataSmart® Notification to be notified of future updates of the product.

Why do I need updates?

Information Commissioner may change the way it implements the notification process or the forms used during notification. Any changes to the notification forms, amendment forms, and additional templates as well as improvements to DataSmart® Notification itself are distributed to registered DataSmart® Notification users through the AutoUpdate feature.
