DataSmart Notification is a tool that every Data
Protection Officer must have! It lets you manage multiple notifications
(and amendments) through a single Windows application which is very
easy to use and only costs £145.
DataSmart has an easy to use interface, which has a similar look
and feel to most other MS Windows applications that PC users are
familiar with. In the main DataSmart window, you can see at a glance,
all notification entries stored in your system that might be from
different branches and might be in different stages (draft, final
etc). The features of DataSmart include the management of the notification
life cycle through the creation of notification entries, the management
of updates in the notification entry using Amendments, the management
of the Audit Trail process and the management of automatic updates
for the software through the AutoUpdate feature.

Trail is the process by which the Data Controller keeps track
of the location of the Personal Data that are included in the relevant
Notification Entry. Audit Trail is not a statutory requirement but
it is very useful in supporting a Subject Access Request and linking
the Notification Entry with the Information Asset Register. The
key features of the Audit Trail are:
- Specify an Audit Trail for Data Classes
- Modify Audit Trail Details
- Generate/Print Preview/Print Audit Trail Report
The Act or the implementation methods of the Information Commissioner
may change at any time. To fulfill the new requirements, registered
users can update their copy of DataSmart from the Internet using
the AutoUpdate feature, which downloads updates to the software,
reports, help files and even get new small applications that complement
